Resolutions of Grace : After God’s Heart

Woman of God

Social, fashion, and cultural trends pull so much on the fabric of our lives  It’s hard to be yourself, because we are being inundated with images of not being good enough, not looking good enough, and not having enough.  The easy option is to conform.  However, as you read this, you know that the solution is not to conform to the patterns of this world (Romans 12:2).  As I wrote in the previous blog on Resolute Resolutions, families are not together as much, and we are just too busy.  Women, this year seek to have a spiritual resolution, and I have the perfect passage for you.  Proverbs 31 says the following:

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
    She is more precious than rubies. Proverbs 31:10

Virtuous is defined as having or showing high moral standards.  I love that it says that she is more precious than rubies, because finding someone that is virtuous and capable is more challenging than mining for rubies.  So when a woman of God searches for virtue rather than trends, she becomes more precious than the finest gems.  To be precious is not an outwardly guise, but an inward search for character, so much that a husband will say:

There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
    but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:29

Make your graceful resolution this year to search after God’s heart, and to seek inward beauty, modesty, and morals above all.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
    but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Proverbs 31:30
